Annual Meeting of the Zaferia Business Association
October 27 @ 7:45 am - 9:00 am
This is a free program made possible by the Zaferia Business Association
Join us for coffee and donuts and ZONING! Learn about the next steps that follow the city’s Land Use Element (updated in 2019) that pertain to zoning. This is a unique opportunity to provide input early in the process. Zoning can affect all types of businesses and property values.
The zoning discussion will begin immediately following the Annual Report of the ZBA President, Madison Mooney of the Long Beach Playhouse. We hope to see you there!
Scheduled guest speaker: Alison Spindler-Ruiz, AICP, Advance Planning Officer with Long Beach Development Services – Planning Bureau
The Anaheim Corridor Zoning Implementation Plan (ACZIP) will develop new context-sensitive zoning regulations for the Anaheim Corridor to implement the land use policies and strategies from recently adopted the General Plan Land Use Element (LUE) which envisions the revitalization of commercial corridors such as Anaheim St by allowing greater density and mix of uses such as both commercial and residential uses to create more complete communities where businesses, jobs, shopping and residents are located near each other while helping reduce the large unmet demand for housing in the City.
The ACZIP project area is roughly bounded and inclusive of Magnolia Ave to the west, Pacific Coast Highway to the north, 10th Street to the south, and Ximeno Ave to the east. Through ACZIP, the City looks forward to working with the Zaferia Business Association, individual businesses and residents to understand community priorities and needs, as well as challenges with today’s zoning code in order to develop new zoning standards and zoning tools through a community-centered, collaborative effort between the City of Long Beach and the Anaheim Corridor’s diverse communities. The ACZIP will include both virtual and in-person ways to participate starting in early 2022.
